Structural Integration with Saxon Alexandra
Often times, traditional and quanitative ways of collecting data can be insufficient, especially in practices of non-traditional medicine, in documenting subtle yet profound changes in the body. The transaction of trust and neurofeedback in the process of bodywork must captured and legitimized in a sphere that celebrates intuition and emotion.

In March of 2025, I traveled to Aiken, South Carolina with Saxon Alexandra (EFIT Practitioner at Actuality Equine LLC, docent of Equus-Soma Osteology Center) to develop a documentation practice for the process of equine rehabilitation. Saxon’s work, termed “Structural Integration”, manually works on the body’s fascial layers in order to reorganize, differentiate, and reintegrate them to the larger structures which they support. I spent a large part of my time in Aiken observing this process and developing a visual language with which to describe these changes. Then, with the goal of further understanding the anatomy and biomechanics of the domestic horse and fostering a deeper empathy, I sat in on a morning session of a whole horse dissection through Equus-Soma. As I understood more and more about the functions of fascia and tensegrity, it became clear to me that an artistic approach to this practice is truly reflexive of the constant learning and unraveling I have experienced in my time here.
